About

About Rhyming History

Rhyming History is designed for those who want to learn more about our history, but in not too solemn a way. We hope that the books will appeal to a wide audience, schools, students and historians, and to those who simply enjoy reading verse.

JOHN PARTRIDGE has been an artist and illustrator for many years, combining this with his job as a display designer in the cosmetic industry. Whilst now continuing his love of painting and drawing he has expanded his ongoing interest in cartoon work and has completed many commissions for both commercial and private clients.
COLIN WAKEFIELD wrote On Your Honour and Audience With Murder, both with Roger Leach and produced by Double Honours Productions at the Jermyn Street Theatre, London. He wrote Sleep No More with David Gillespie and has written twenty pantomimes and Christmas musicals with composer Kate Edgar, thirteen of which are published by Josef Weinberger Plays.

Readings and Performances

On Sunday 13th March 2011 we held a day of readings with 18 actors at the Jermyn Street Theatre, London. There were six 50-minute sessions of excerpts and we raised over £2000 for Comic Relief. Special thanks to all the readers and to Penny Horner for giving the theatre free of charge.

Please e-mail Colin Wakefield (though the Contact page) if you would like to arrange live readings of the verse.

All the published books (up to Volume Fourteen so far) are available through Amazon and from selected retailers. Volume One is also available as an E-book and there is also a CD of excerpts from this volume. The readers are Leda Hodgson, Ray Sawyer and Philip Childs.

Volume Fifteen, THE SECOND WORLD WAR, will be published in 2023, with subsequent volumes published annually right up to the present day.

“A splendid production, with delightful illustrations.”

“An amazing project.”
